How can we help?

Misc : Stems

Serato Stems utilizes real-time audio separation that allows you to isolate vocals, melody, bass and drums from imported audio files, at the click of a button.

Stems can be found in the Deck Header area of Sample Decks and Audio Tracks, and can be used with any audio files in your Serato Studio library.

When Stems are triggered, the waveform of the audio file will dynamically change color to correspond with the change in audio, while muted parts of the waveform will be displayed in grey.

NOTE: Stems may take some time to initialize when Stem controls are triggered for the first time in a Serato Studio session. Initialization can also take longer depending on the file type, file duration, and specifications of your computer.

When you save your project, a .serato-stems file is created in the same location with the same name, as the audio file it corresponds to, for all Sample Decks or Audio Tracks where Stems are used.

NOTE: If you use the Save Project with Samples.. option, .serato-stem files will also be saved into the resulting .zip file created, along with any audio files that they correspond to.

Using Stems

Click any purple Stem control to toggle it off and mute the corresponding Stem, isolating the audio of the remaining unmuted Stems during playback.

Click any grey Stem control again to toggle it on and unmute the corresponding Stem during playback.

Any combinations of Stem controls can be toggled on or off, simultaneously.
