How can we help?

DVS control with the Pioneer DJ DJM-850, DJM-900NXS, DJM-900NXS2 and DJM-V10

To use the Pioneer DJ DJM-850, DJM-900NXS, DJM-900NXS2 or DJM-V10 mixer with DVS control and Serato DJ, you will first need to purchase a Serato DJ licence and a DVS Expansion Pack licence (these two products have been bundled together as the Club Kit).
You can purchase the Club Kit HERE

For more information about the required licences to use a Club Kit ready mixer, check out the Club Kit licence guide here.

Once you have purchased the Club Kit (or individual licences separately) enable CD/Vinyl Control in the DVS Expansion Packs section of the SETUP screen under the Expansion Packs tab. Follow the steps below to get DVS control working with your Pioneer DJ DJM-850, DJM-900NXS, DJM-900NXS2 or DJM-V10 mixer:

1. Install Drivers

Connect the DJ DJM-850, DJM-900NXS, DJM-900NXS2 or DJM-V10 to your computer and open the latest version of Serato DJ. You should see an "Install Driver" dialogue box appear in the right-hand side panel. Click "Install Driver" and follow the installer prompts. If you don't have the hardware with you right now you can still download the driver from the manufacturer's website. Go to here. After you have installed the latest drivers it is recommended you restart your computer.

Note: If using macOS 10.13 High Sierra, ensure you have adjusted security settings to allow the driver to be used as an audio device, here.

2. Select Input source

Once your turntables or CDJs are connected to DJM-850, DJM-900NXS or DJM-900NXS2, open the SETUP screen and under the AUDIO tab click either the SETUP INPUTS button, or CUSTOM This will open the device driver window panel and let you choose which kind of input source you have connected. Depending on what kind of input you have connected (Turntables/CDJs) you will need to make sure this is set accordingly.

If you do not set the mixer's input accordingly, DVS control will not work. Please make sure you have set the correct inputs and outputs in the SETUP INPUTS driver panel if you are having issues.

On rare occasions, Serato DJ may not receive a DVS signal. If this occurs, toggle the input inside the utility to the opposite of what you're using, then toggle it back (ie, if using CD/LINE, toggle to PHONO and back to CD/LINE, or if using CD/LINE, toggle to PHONO and then back to CD/LINE)

3. Select Primary Decks

Also in the AUDIO tab of the SETUP screen, you will need to select your Primary Decks.

DJM-850, DJM-900NXS, DJM-900NXS2

Choosing Channel 1 and 2 will allow you to have a traditional 1-2-3-4 channel configuration. Choosing Channel 2 and 3 will allow you to have a 3-1-2-4 configuration (from left to right across the mixer).

Serato DJ Pro is limited to using 4 decks. This means Channels 2 and 5 are not used on the DJM-V10.

Choosing Channel 1 and 2 will sort your channels from left to right across the mixer. Virtual deck 1 is on mixer channel 1. Virtual Deck 2 being on mixer channel 3. Mixer channel 4 and 6 are then used for virtual decks 3 and 4.

Choosing Channel 2 and 3 will allow you to have a 3-1-2-4 configuration. Virtual decks 1 and 2 will use mixer channels 3 and 4. Virtual decks 3 and 4 will use mixer channels 1 and 6.

Select which deck configuration you are using with the mixer and change if necessary. If you notice you are getting signal from your control tone but on the wrong deck, you might need to double-check your Primary Decks in the SETUP screen or the physical inputs on the back of the mixer.

Note: If you're using OS X/macOS and notice that none of your inputs are receiving any signal, despite following the steps above - please navigate to the SETUP INPUTS option from step 2. Then under the 'Mixer Outputs' tab, try toggling an output (to something other than what you currently have selected), then toggle it back.

You are now set up to use your mixer with Serato DJ and DVS control using the REL or ABS control modes. Refer to the Serato DJ software manual for more information on Control Modes.
