With Serato DJ Pro & Lite, there are three main categories of primary, supported hardware:

• Serato DJ Pro hardware unlocked
  These devices are plug-and-play when the hardware is connected to a computer with Serato DJ Pro, and require no further activation or upgrade licenses.
  
  
• Serato DJ Lite hardware unlocked
  These devices are plug-and-play when the hardware is connected to a computer with Serato DJ Lite, but require the purchase of an upgrade license, to be used with Serato DJ Pro.
  
  
• Paid upgrade to Serato DJ Pro
  These devices require an upgrade license to be purchased and activated on your computer, before Serato DJ Pro can be used with the respective hardware. They can consist of either Serato DJ Lite hardware unlocked devices, which can be used in Serato DJ Pro with the purchase of a Serato DJ Pro license, or a Serato DJ Club Kit mixer, which require a Serato DJ Pro license before it can be used with Serato DJ Pro.

Some of these devices also support the use of DVS. These are also split into two categories (explained below):

• Serato DVS hardware unlocked
  These devices activate the Serato DVS feature when the hardware is connected to a computer with Serato DJ Pro.
  
  
• Paid upgrade to Serato DVS
  These devices require an upgrade Serato DVS license to use the Serato DVS feature in Serato DJ Pro. 

Finally, some devices supported in Serato DJ Pro software fall under the category of 'Accessories':

• Serato Official Accessory
  
  These devices require primary hardware connected, which can comprise of the Serato DJ Pro hardware unlocked device type above, or a paid upgrade to Serato DJ Pro device and accompanying Serato DJ Pro license. Serato Official Accessories cannot be used with Serato DJ Pro without the respective primary hardware connected - they also cannot be used with Serato DJ Lite. 

If you're wanting to use a Serato DJ Lite hardware unlocked controller with Serato DJ Pro, you'll need to buy or subscribe to a Serato DJ Pro license to access all of Serato DJ Pro's features. This license works for all Serato DJ Lite controllers, even if you switch to a different one later.

If you're wanting to use a Paid upgrade to Serato DJ Pro mixer (often known as Club Kit mixers), with Serato DJ Pro, you'll also need to buy or subscribe to a Serato DJ Pro license to connect to Serato DJ Pro. Like in the use case above, this license will allow you to connect to all Paid upgrade to Serato DJ Pro mixers.
