How can we help?

Using Serato Studio natively on macOS computers with Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3)

Serato Studio (from 2.0.2 and above), is now available as a Universal macOS Binary, meaning it runs natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

If using macOS on a computer with Apple Silicon, you can also run your favorite, third-party VST plugins natively, if they are supported.

If your favorite, third-party VST plugins are only available for Intel-based Macs, they may refuse to launch or work incorrectly when using Serato Studio natively.

NOTE: If you're using an Intel-based Mac, the workarounds below are not required.

To workaround this, you can:

  • Set Serato Studio to run using the Rosetta 2 emulation layer by;
    Opening a Finder window, then navigating to Applications > Serato Studio, right-clicking on the application shortcut, and choosing Get Info.
    Under the General section, enable the checkbox entitled Open using Rosetta:Screenshot_2023-03-01_at_4.25.50_PM.png
  • Update the VST plugin in question to the latest Universal Binary or native-compatible version, to allow it to run natively on your machine. If you've got an existing project where you've used the plugin, and the newly installed native version of that plugin doesn't overwrite the previous version, you'll need to re-load the plugin as if it were a new plugin.
  • Use the AU (Audio Unit) version of that VST plugin, if one is available.
