When adding to or playing music from, your Serato DJ streaming playlists, you may have encountered some tracks that either can't be found or can't be loaded. You may have looked up the same track directly through your streaming providers' website or app and discovered a different result.
Below we have compiled a list of reasons as to why this might be the case, and which streaming services are affected.
- The track is 'purchase only'
These tracks cannot be searched using the Streaming search function in Serato DJ software. You may search for these tracks directly on the streaming service provider's website or applications however, and they will appear, but will clearly indicate they are for purchase only.
Streaming services affected: Beatport / Beatsource. - The track is 'album only'
Similar to purchase only tracks, these items require the purchase of a full album, rather than just an individual or single track. These tracks will also not be searchable using the Streaming search function in Serato DJ software - but maybe found directly via the search function provided by the respective streaming service. These tracks should also be clearly marked as 'album only'.
Streaming services affected: Beatport / Beatsource. - The label or rights holder has not given permission for the track to be streamed
These tracks will not appear when using the Streaming search function in Serato DJ software, and are due to the label or rights holder not allowing for that specific content to be streamed.
NOTE: Tracks uploaded by creators or rights holders on SoundCloud, will need to enable this on a per track basis - note that the track can be streamed directly from SoundCloud without this setting enabled. More details can be found via the Enabling app playback article on SoundCloud's website.
Streaming services affected: Beatport / Beatsource, SoundCloud. - The track is territory restricted
These tracks will not appear when using the Streaming search function in Serato DJ software, and is due to the limitation of certain tracks not being available in certain regions.
Streaming services affected: Beatport / Beatsource. - The track has been removed by the label or rights holder
These tracks will not show when using the Streaming search function in Serato DJ software, however they will appear in Playlists you've already added them to, and will be greyed out in this instance. Loading these greyed out tracks to a virtual deck will result in an error message to indicate this is the case.
