You can use the following plugin formats with Serato Studio:

  • VST (VST2 & VST3) - 64-bit only
  • Audio Unit (AU) - 64-bit only

NOTE: 32-bit plugins are not supported by Serato Studio.

Installation

NOTE: Installation steps may vary for individual plugins. Please refer to the plugin manufacturer's installation guide for full steps. If you run into any trouble or need assistance installing a third-party party plugin, please consult the plugin manufacturer.

Installing VST or AU plugins on Mac

1. Download the plugin installer file from manufacturer's website and run the installer.

2. The majority of plugins will install themselves to the default system folders unless specified otherwise in the setup process. If you find that this is not the case, they simply need to be moved to the correct folder. The macOS default plugin locations are listed below:

  • Macintosh HD>Library>Audio>Plug-Ins>Components - for AU plugins
  • Macintosh HD>Library>Audio>Plug-Ins>VST - for VST 2
  • Macintosh HD>Library>Audio>Plug-Ins>VST3 - for VST 3

NOTE: If preferred, you can install your VST plug-ins into a custom folder of your choice. See 'Setup' below for further information on using a custom VST folder

3. Once the installer process has completed, launch Serato Studio - Serato Studio will scan for new plug-ins upon opening the application.

Installing VST plugins on Windows

1. Download the plugin installer file from the manufacturer's website and run the installer.

2. The majority of plugins will install themselves to the default system folder unless specified otherwise in the setup process. If this is not the case, simply move the .dll file to the default plugin location. The Windows default plugin location is listed below:

  • C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins
  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3

3. Once the installer process has completed, launch Serato Studio - Serato Studio will scan for new plug-ins upon opening the application.

NOTE: If preferred, you can install your VST plug-ins into a custom folder of your choice. See 'Setup' below for further information on using a custom VST folder. This can be done in the plug-in setup process or by placing the .dll file into the folder of your choice.
