The 'Auto Chord' mode lets you trigger and paint predetermined chords into the piano roll using a single note. These chords are determined by the key set in the Project Header Bar as well as some easy to use controls in the deck parameter area.
The 'Auto Chord' mode button is found on the left-hand side of the Sample Deck's parameter panel. The button is only visible when 'Keyboard Mode' is activated. 'Play In Key' and 'Poly' mode will also need to be enabled to activate the 'Auto Chord' button. Once 'Auto Chord' is turned on, the Notes field and the Feel knob will appear.
Note: Poly Mode is located on the left-hand side of the deck header bar and must be enabled as chords require multiple notes to be triggered at once.
Notes
You can adjust the Note field to determine how many individual notes will be triggered in the chord. Click on the arrows or drag the value up and down to select one of the following 7 preset chord options.
- 2 - (5th)
- 3 - (Triads)
- 4 - (7th)
- 5 - (9th)
- 6 - (11th)
- 7 - (13th)
- 4 - (6th)
Note: Adjusting the 'Notes' field does not affect existing notes in the Sequence, it will only affect newly input notes.
Feel
The 'Feel' knob adjusts the spacing between the played notes as well as the velocity of each note. This can be used to give the chord a less robotic feel.
When set at 0%, all notes are triggered simultaneously. As you increase the feel knob from 1-100%, the spacing between each note grows from 1/128 note up to a 1/16th note at 100%.
When set at 0%, all notes are triggered at the same velocity. When the knob is increased, the velocity value of each note is adjusted.
Drawing Chords
Auto Chords allows you to paint chords directly into the piano roll as you would a normal note. Once in the piano roll, each note of the chord can be individually edited.
The Notes and Feel knob will not change any chords already in the piano roll
