How to restore your Serato Studio projects and library database from backup

Serato Studio automatically creates backups of the Serato Studio library database and project files, making it easy to roll back in any instances of library database or project corruption.

All backups of your Serato Studio library database can be found in the following locations on your internal drive:

  • macOS - Macintosh HD > Users > your.name > Library > Application Support > Serato > Library
  • Win PC - PC > Local Disk (C:) > Users > your.name > AppData > Local > Serato > Library

All backups of your Serato Studio projects can be found in the following locations on your internal drive:

  • macOS - Macintosh HD > Users > your.name > Library > Application Support > Serato > Serato Studio
  • Win PC - PC > Local Disk (C:) > Users > your.name > AppData > Local > Serato > Serato Studio

Restoring a Serato Studio project from backup

These steps will help you restore a Serato Studio project to a previous backup. These steps will help you roll back any projects that have become corrupt and unusable due to issues such crashes.

1.) Ensure all Serato applications are closed
2.) Navigate to the following file path:

  • macOS - Macintosh HD > Users > your.name > Library > Application Support > Serato > Serato Studio > Project Backups
  • Win PC - PC > Local Disk (C:) > Users > your.name > AppData > Local > Serato > Serato Studio > Project Backups

3.) You will find all project backups here - all project backup file names contain a date and time stamp - you can use this to locate the exact backup you wish to restore.

4.) Once you have located the project backup you wish to restore, double-click the .ssp file, then immediately save this project under a new project file name using "Save Project As..." from the  Serato Studio Project menubar 'File' dropdown.

Restoring your Serato Studio library to a backup state

These steps will help you restore your Serato Studio library to a previous backup.

1.) Ensure all Serato applications are closed
2.) 
Navigate to the following file path:

  • macOS - Macintosh HD > Users > your.name > Library > Application Support > Serato > Library
  • Win PC - PC > Local Disk (C:) > Users > your.name > AppData > Local > Serato > Library

3.) Copy the current files from the library folder, then paste these files into a new folder on your desktop.
4.) Replace those files with the backups you wish to use.

If you are using files from them from the automatic backups folder, you will need to unzip these files and rename each of the backup files to fit the correct naming convention.

  • For example - "master.sqlite-backup-20190830_130713+1200.zip" needs to be renamed to master.sqlite once you have unzipped this file.

Ensure that you have the following files in the Serato > Library folder:

  • audiounits.sqlite
  • effects.sqlite
  • master.sqlite
  • root.sqlite

5.) Once you have finished the above, open Serato Studio - you should find that your Serato Studio library
