Serato Studio automatically creates backups of the Serato Studio library database and project files, making it easy to roll back any instances of your library database or project.
All backups of your Serato Studio library database can be found in the following locations on your internal drive:
- macOS - Macintosh HD > Users > your.username > Library > Application Support > Serato > Library > Backups
- Windows - C:\Users\your.username\AppData\Local\Serato\Library\Backups
All backups for your Serato Studio projects can be found in the default corresponding project folder (this will mirror the title of your saved project). Unless you've specified a custom location, they will be as follows:
- macOS - Macintosh HD > Users > your.name > Music > Serato Studio > My Projects > your.projectname > Project Backups
- Windows - C:\Users\your.username\Music\Serato Studio\My Projects\your.projectname\Project Backups
NOTE: In older versions of Serato Studio, these were stored via the following location on your internal drive:
- macOS- Macintosh HD > Users > your.name > Library > Application Support > Serato > Serato Studio > Project Backups
- Windows - C:\Users\your.username\AppData\Local\Serato\Serato Studio\Project Backups
Backups for your Default Template project can be found by the following location:
- macOS - Macintosh HD > Users > your.username > Library > Application Support > Serato > Serato Studio > User Templates > Default Template > Project Backups
- Windows - C:\Users\your.username\AppData\Local\Serato\Serato Studio\User Templates\Default Template\Project Backups
Restoring a Serato Studio project from a backup
These steps will help you restore a Serato Studio project from a backup version. This is useful if your project for some reason becomes corrupt or unusable. It can also be helpful if you 'make a mistake' or decide you want to go back to an early version of the project.
- Ensure all Serato applications are closed, then navigate to the following file path below for general projects (or alternatively, the use Default Template location above, for restoring Default Templates):
macOS - Macintosh HD > Users > your.name > Music > Serato Studio > My Projects > your.projectname > Project Backups
Windows - C:\Users\your.username\Music\Serato Studio\My Projects\your.projectname\Project Backups - You will find all project backups here - all project backup file names contain a date and time stamp - you can use this to locate the exact backup you wish to restore.
NOTE: If you've chosen a custom/alternative location for the project you wish to restore, then you will need to navigate to that directory in step 1. - Once you have located the project backup you wish to restore, double-click the .ssp file, then immediately save the project again, using a new project file name from File > Save Project As... in the Serato Studio Project menu bar.
Restoring your Serato Studio library from a backup
These steps will help you restore your Serato Studio library to a previous backup.
- Ensure all Serato applications are closed, then navigate to the following file path:
macOS - Macintosh HD > Users > your.name > Library > Application Support > Serato > Library
Windows - Computer > Local Disk (C:) > Users > your.name > AppData > Local > Serato > Library - Copy the current files from the library folder, then paste these files into a new folder on your desktop.Replace those files with the backups you wish to use.
- If you are using files from them from the automatic backups folder, you will need to unzip these files and rename each of the backup files to fit the correct naming convention.
For example - "master.sqlite-backup-20190830_130713+1200.zip" needs to be renamed to master.sqlite once you have unzipped this file. - Ensure that you have the following files in the Serato > Library folder:
audiounits.sqlite
effects.sqlite
master.sqlite
root.sqlite - Once you have finished the above, open Serato Studio - you should find that your Serato Studio library.
