A 'Plays' column is now available in Serato DJ Pro with version 2.2.0. 'Plays' will track the number of times a given track has been played. What constitutes as a 'play' varies between the different states available within Serato DJ Pro.
NOTE: Play history and plays from previous versions of Serato DJ Pro will not be included in the count.
From Serato DJ Pro 2.5.5, you can also disable or enable Play Count under Setup > Library + Display > Enable Play Count.
Play count with hardware connected
When you have Serato DJ compatible hardware connected, a track will be marked as played using the following rules:
- The track is loaded to deck and playing
- The hardware channel fader is open for that deck
- The hardware crossfader is open for the deck
Please note that there are exceptions where play logic will differ with certain hardware:
- For example - sound cards such as the Rane SL interfaces (and some other devices) will only mark a track as played once you load a track to another deck, and cannot detect fader movements
Play count with no hardware connected (Serato Play & Practice mode)
When you are using Serato Play or are in Practice mode (Two Deck Offline Player), a track will be marked as played using the following rules:
- The track is loaded to deck and playing
- The software channel fader is open for that deck
- The software crossfader is open for the deck
NOTE: Plays column does not update using the Single Deck Offline Player.
There are some further conditions to note regarding Plays in Serato DJ Pro 2.2.0.
Please note that:
- If you have Custom Crate Columns enabled the Plays column will only be visible in the "All..." crate to begin with and you’ll need to manually add the column. You can do this by right-clicking on the crates column header.
- If you create a Smart Crate in Serato DJ Pro 2.2.0 with any ‘Plays’ rules, then use an older version and come back to 2.2.0 - the Smart Crate rules are lost. You will need to add these rules to your Smart Crates again.
- If you downgrade or switch to an older version of Serato DJ Pro, then use version 2.2.0 again Plays will be restored after your library's ID3 tags have been rescanned (Files > Rescan ID3 tags).
