Below are answers to some frequently asked questions you may have about Serato DJ Lite when used with SoundCloud as a music streaming service.
To use SoundCloud with Serato DJ Lite as a streaming service you must have Serato DJ Lite 1.1 or above installed, and you must have an active SoundCloud GO+ subscription linked with Serato DJ Lite. Find out more in our Using SoundCloud with Serato DJ Lite article.
Can I stream tracks during offline use?
At this point an active internet connection is required to play SoundCloud tracks in Serato DJ Lite.
Some SoundCloud tracks seem to vary in sound quality, what bitrate are they playing back at?
Most SoundCloud GO+ content is streamed at 'High quality' or 256kbps AAC. Not all content is uploaded to SoundCloud at High quality however, so there maybe some variance.
Can I record using SoundCloud tracks in Serato DJ Lite?
At this point recording is not available in Serato DJ Lite using SoundCloud tracks.
How do I analyse SoundCloud tracks in Serato DJ Lite?
Simply load tracks from your SoundCloud playlists to deck (or directly from the Streaming Search function) and after a brief moment the waveform overview will be built and the track will be 'analysed'.
At this point the key & BPM will show, and the full waveform will show. You may also add Cue points, loops, and other Serato data to the track.
Once the track is ejected, and re-loaded to deck, it will analyse 'on-the-fly' but your Cue points, loops, and other Serato data will be retained.
I've just added some new tracks to my SoundCloud playlist on SoundCloud's website, but they do not yet show in the same playlist in Serato DJ Lite?
Navigate to Setup --> Library + Display --> Music Streaming and toggle the Show Streaming Services option off, and on again to force a refresh of your SoundCloud playlists in Serato DJ Lite.
After adding new tracks to a playlist and refreshing it, I still can't see these tracks in Serato DJ Lite
It's possible the content creator didn't allow these tracks to be made streamable via SoundCloud GO+ or playable outside of SoundCloud and its apps. Contact the content creator or SoundCloud directly to inquire further.
If these tracks are your own tracks, you can change this preference yourself. Navigate to Soundcloud.com --> Locate the track --> Edit --> Permissions and ensure the Enable app playback preference is selected.
