Serato DJ Pro supports a variety of audio file formats, this guide details the supported file types, DRM compatibility, and platform-specific considerations, ensuring optimal file management and playback within Serato DJ Pro.
Note: Both fixed and variable bit rate (VBR) files are supported where applicable.
Supported Audio File Formats

DRM-Protected Files
DRM-protected files are handled differently based on their source:
- Streaming Services: DRM-protected tracks streamed through a supported service (e.g., TIDAL, Beatport LINK, Beatsource LINK, SoundCloud Go+, Apple Music) are supported.
- Locally Stored Files: DRM-protected files that are locally stored and imported directly (e.g., Apple Music downloads, iTunes Store purchases) are not supported in Serato DJ Pro and may not appear in your library.
Known Issues with Apple's Music Store Downloads via 'Show iTunes Library' Feature
DRM-free tracks purchased through Apple's Music Store and downloaded in Lossless Audio (ALAC) format (48kHz or higher) are downloaded as .movpkg files.
These files:
- Are not supported in Serato DJ Pro when accessed via the Show iTunes Library feature.
- Will appear as 'read only' in the software.
Workaround:
- Change the download quality in the Music app to High Quality (AAC 256Kbps).
- Delete and re-download the tracks through the Music app.
