If you are having issues with Serato DJ or your computer in general and you're unsure of the cause, then you may benefit from resetting your PRAM and SMC

NVRAM/PRAM
A small amount of your Mac's memory, called “parameter random-access memory” or PRAM, stores certain settings in a location that macOS can access quickly. The particular settings that are stored depend on your type of Mac and the types of devices connected to it. The settings include your designated startup disk, display resolution, speaker volume, and other information.
Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3)
This process does not apply to Apple Silicon Macs.
Intel
- Shut down your Mac.
- Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Option, Command (⌘), P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
- Turn on your Mac.
- Immediately press and hold the Option-Command-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the grey screen appears. Continue holding the keys down until your Mac restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
- Release the keys.
SMC
The SMC (System Management controller) is responsible for managing power on your Mac. Resetting it can resolve certain uncommon issues related to power or thermal management.

Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3)
Make sure that your Mac is plugged into power, then take one of these actions.
- Restart: Choose the Apple menu > Restart.
- Shut down: Choose Apple menu > Shut Down. Then press the power button on your Mac to turn it on again.
No other steps are necessary for Mac computers with Apple silicon.
Intel with Apple T2 chip
Refer to Apple's information if you are unsure if your computer has the Apple= T2 Security Chip - Find out if you have a Mac with the Apple T2 Security Chip
Laptop
Before resetting the SMC, follow these steps:
- Shut down your Mac, if possible.
- Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, then release the button.
- Every Mac has a power button. On laptop computers that have Touch ID, press and hold Touch ID.
- Wait a few seconds, then press the power button to turn on your Mac.
If the issue persists, reset the SMC:
- Shut down your Mac.
- On your built-in keyboard, press and hold all of the following keys:
- Control (on the left side of your keyboard),
- Option (Alt) (on the left side of your keyboard),
- Shift (on the right side of your keyboard)
- Keep holding all three keys for 7 seconds, then press and hold the power button. If your Mac is on, it will turn off as you hold the keys.
Desktop
- Shut down your Mac, then unplug the power cord.
- Wait 15 seconds, then plug the power cord back in.
- Wait 5 seconds, then press the power button to turn on your Mac.
Intel without Apple T2 chip
Follow these steps on older computers with neither Apple silicon nor the Apple T2 Security Chip.
Laptop
- Shut down your Mac.
- On your built-in keyboard, press and hold all of the following keys:
- Control (on the left side of your keyboard),
- Option (Alt) (on the left side of your keyboard),
- Shift (on the right side of your keyboard)
- While holding all three keys, press and hold the power button.
- Keep holding all four keys for 10 seconds.
- Release all keys, then press the power button to turn on your Mac.
Desktop
- Shut down your Mac, then unplug the power cord.
- Wait 15 seconds, then plug the power cord back in.
- Wait 5 seconds, then press the power button to turn on your Mac.
