How can we help?

Sync

Sync matches the tempo of one Deck to the other and lines up their beats, so the two tracks stay in time without you adjusting tempo by hand.

Serato DJ for iOS uses Simple Sync with Snap to Beatgrid. Both are always on, so there’s nothing to set up. Sync is available in Free Mode.

Sync follows each track’s Beatgrid, so it works best on tracks that have been analyzed.

Syncing Your Decks

  1. Load a track to each Deck. Both tracks need a BPM. If a track doesn’t have one, analyze it first.
  2. Play the track on one Deck.
  3. Tap Sync on the Deck you want to match.

The Deck you sync follows the tempo of the other Deck, and its beats line up with the other Deck’s Beatgrid.

If the tracks drift apart, tap Sync again to re-sync.

If Sync won’t engage, check that the other Deck has a track with a BPM. When it doesn’t, nothing changes and a message appears at the top of the screen: 'Sync requires tracks with bpm on both decks.'

Samples aren’t part of Sync. A Deck never syncs to a Sample Slot, even if the slot holds audio with a Beatgrid or BPM, and a Sample Slot never syncs to a Deck.

NOTE: Tracks that sound out of time may have an incorrect Beatgrid.

Turning Sync Off

Press and hold Sync on the Deck. After Sync is turned off, the track will return to its original tempo.

A short tap doesn’t turn Sync off. It re-syncs the track.

Sync Settings

Go to Advanced Settings > DJ Preferences > Sync Preferences:

  • Maintain Sync on Track Load: keeps Sync engaged when you load a new track. This setting is available with Serato DJ Suite.
  • Tempo Slider affects all synced decks: when you change the tempo of a synced Deck, the other synced Deck follows. This option only appears when Enable DVS is on, and it’s off by default.
