How can we help?

Cue Loops

Cue Loops let you save a Cue Point and a loop to the same pad. When you press the pad, the playhead jumps to the cue and the loop turns on immediately. You don’t need to switch between cue and loop controls in the middle of a set.

NOTE: Cue Loops are available in Serato DJ Pro 5.0 and later. They are not available in Serato DJ Lite.

Turn on Cue Loops

Cue Loops are off by default. To turn them on:

  1. Click Setup.
  2. Go to the DJ Preferences tab.
  3. Under Control Preferences, check Enable Cue Loops.

NOTE: You only need this setting turned on to create new Cue Loops. Cue Loops you have already saved will still appear and trigger when the setting is off.

Create a Cue Loop

  1. Turn on a loop. This can be an Auto Loop, a Saved Loop, or a manual loop.
  2. Make sure the playhead is inside the loop.
  3. Add a cue to an empty Cue Point slot. You can do this in any of these ways:
    • Click the + in an empty slot.
    • Press an empty Hot Cue pad on your hardware.
    • Use the keyboard shortcuts: 1–5 for the left deck, or 6–0 for the right deck.

The Cue Loop is saved at the start of the loop and keeps the loop’s length.

NOTE: If you get a regular Cue Point instead, the playhead was outside the loop. Auto Loops snap to the Beatgrid, so the loop can start just after the playhead. This happens most often at the very start of a track. Move the playhead well inside the loop, then try again.

Trigger a Cue Loop

  • Press the pad. The playhead jumps to the start of the Cue Loop and the loop turns on.
  • Press it again while it’s looping. The playhead jumps back to the start of the loop.
  • Hold the pad while the deck is paused. The Cue Loop plays for as long as you hold the pad. When you let go, the playhead returns to the cue position.

Only one loop can be active at a time:

  • Triggering a Cue Loop turns off any other active loop.
  • Triggering an Auto Loop or a Saved Loop turns off an active Cue Loop.

Turn off a Cue Loop

While a Cue Loop is active, its loop icon turns into a blue button. To turn the loop off, use any of these:

  • Click the blue loop button next to the cue pad.
  • Click the loop on/off button in the Loops tab.
  • Use the loop on/off control on your hardware.

Change or delete a Cue Loop

You can’t edit a Cue Loop after you create it. Halving or doubling the loop, using Beat Jump, or moving the loop in and out points only changes the loop that is currently playing. The next time you trigger the Cue Loop, it goes back to its saved position and length.

To change a Cue Loop, delete it and create it again. You delete a Cue Loop the same way you delete a Cue Point:

  • Click the x on the cue pad.
  • Hold Shift and press the Hot Cue pad on your hardware.
  • Press Shift + Control + 1–5 for the left deck, or Shift + Control + 6–0 for the right deck.
