How can we help?

Navigating and Managing your Library

The library contains all the music you have added to Serato DJ for iOS. Your music is organized into crates, and you can use search to narrow down your selection and find the track you want.

Opening the Library

Tap the ‘Tap to load song’ area in the deck header, or tap the album artwork, to open the Library.

The Library has two views:

  • Crate List — your crates, shown as a list
  • Asset List — the tracks inside the selected crate, showing album art, track name, artist, BPM, key and length

NOTE: In portrait orientation the two views are shown one at a time. Tap a crate to move to the Asset List, and tap the back button to return to the Crate List.

Loading a Track

Tap a track in the Asset List to load it to the selected deck.

When you open the Library from the deck header it opens in Crate View by default. If you were last looking at the Asset List, tapping the header takes you back to the Asset List instead.

Sorting Your Library

Open the … menu in the Asset List and choose Sort by.

The following sort options are available:

  • Artist
  • BPM
  • BPM & Key (BPM first, key second)
  • Custom
  • Date Added
  • Key
  • Length
  • Song

A tick appears next to the active sort option, and an arrow to the left of ‘Sort by’ shows the current sort direction. Tap Sort Order to reverse the direction.

NOTE: All crates share the same sort type and direction. Your choice is remembered the next time you open the app.

Managing Tracks

Press and hold a track in the Asset List to bring up the following options:

  • Copy — copy the track to another crate
  • Analyze — analyze the track
  • Set Beatgrid — choose Set Flexible Beatgrid or Set Fixed Beatgrid
  • Edit — open the Edit song sheet, where you can change the track name, artist, BPM and key
  • Delete from Crate — where available

NOTE: Some fields can't be edited and are grayed out — for example, the name and artist of streaming tracks, or the BPM of tempo-locked tracks.

To work with several tracks at once, open the … menu in the Asset List and tap Edit. You can then select multiple tracks and choose Analyze, Copy or Delete.

Managing Crates

Tap a crate in the Crate List to open it.

Press and hold a crate to bring up the following options:

  • Rename
  • Analyze songs
  • Set Beatgrid — choose Set Flexible Beatgrid or Set Fixed Beatgrid
  • Add songs — choose From Library or From Files
  • Delete — where available

To create a new crate, tap the + button in the Crate List and choose Add Crate. If you have a streaming crate selected, you'll also see Add Playlist.

Searching

Tap the Search button in the bottom right of the Asset List to open the search sheet, then start typing.

The search button hides when you scroll down the Asset List and reappears when you scroll back up, or after a moment if you leave it alone.

At the top of the search sheet you can choose where to search:

  • Crate — the crate you're currently in
  • All — your whole library
  • Your streaming service — searches that service's full catalog

NOTE: Searching starts in the current crate by default. If you can't find a track you know you own, tap All to search your whole library.

Tap Cancel to close the search sheet. Loading a track from the search results closes both the search sheet and the Library.

You can press and hold a track in your search results to get the same options as the Asset List.

Browsing with Hardware

When Serato DJ hardware is connected, turning the library scroll knob or pressing the Back (library) button opens the Library in hardware control mode.

In hardware control mode you're returned to the Performance view automatically after three seconds of inactivity. The timer resets each time you use the hardware library controls. Touch the screen at any point to take back control — the Library will then stay open until you close it.

Loading a track using hardware controls returns you to the Performance view.

NOTE: When you're searching from the mini library with hardware connected, tapping a result opens the Load to Deck window so you can choose which deck to load it to.
