When connecting the Traktor Z2 to Serato DJ Pro, users may experience unexpected lighting of controls on this hardware. As a result you will see this popup appear in Serato DJ Pro:

If you have installed Native Instruments Traktor DJ application on your windows machine it may have installed an NI Service in the background.

If you have not had Traktor DJ installed AND you are not having issues with the output lighting of your mixer you can choose to dismiss the pop up in Serato DJ Pro.

 

WORKAROUND

To rectify, please run through one of the following options:

 

Option 1: Stop the service just for this session.

- Open the Task Manager

- Scroll down the list until you find the NIHardwareService

- Click on the NIHardwareService (so it is highlighted) and right-click (see below)

- Select "End Task"

Note: This will stop the process (and it will disappear from the list) just for this session however this will mean the next time you restart your machine the service will be be back and you will have to repeat this option

 

Option 2: Disable this service from auto-starting on start-up of your machine.

- Open the Start Menu and search Services to bring up the services window

- Scroll down the list until you find the NIHardwareService and Right-click and select Properties (see below)

- Click Startup Type field and select Disabled from the drop-down

- Click Apply and Ok (see below)

NOTE: This will stop the NIHardwareService from automatically starting on your machine and if you require it in the future, you will have to change the NIHardwareService ‘Startup Type’ back to ‘Automatic’ (using the previous process).

 

If you do require this service, please only disable for the session (using option 1) instead of permanently.
